James Wilton Dance, established in 2010 by James Wilton and based in Great Britain, is a dance company that has won innumerable prizes. Its stimulating physical and athletic performances have gained national and international recognition.
The Four Seasons is the company’s fourth production and uses a version of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons ‘recomposed’ by Max Richter. The dance links each season in the music to a phase of the universe. We have Primavera (Spring)/something happening, Estate (Summer)/the universe in expansion, Autunno (Autumn)/the universe cooling, Inverno (Winter)/entropic heat, death.
Max Richter’s composition based on Vivaldi’s masterpiece is extremely original, widely acclaimed in concerts and recordings, and has been performed hundreds of times all over the world. At the Stresa Festival it will be played for the first time on original instruments by Brixia Musicalis conducted by Elisa Citterio. The concert will be completed by two concertos for four violins, by Giuseppe Valentini and Antonio Vivaldi, played by the same instrumental ensemble.
